Henry Morgentaler has been awarded the Order of Canada.  A man whose life was devoted to killing innocent babies is now given the highest award this country has to offer.  This is one of the lowest days in Canadian history.  How can he get this award after being responsible for the deaths of the most innocent citizens of this country. 

He says he is proud of his work, he is proud of giving women safe abortions.  Safe for who?  He doesn't even acknowledge the kids he rips apart, burns with chemicals and kills in a most inhuman ways.

Canada's highest honour has been debased. Henry Morgentaler has been awarded the Order of Canada. We are all diminished.

A community's worth is measured by the way it treats the most vulnerable, and no one is more vulnerable than in the first nine months of life's journey. No person may presume to judge the soul of Henry Morgentaler, but it cannot be denied that the effect of his life's work has been a deadly assault upon the most helpless amongst us.

Canada glories in the names of Banting and Best, and the other medical heroes who selflessly brought healing where there was disease and suffering. Now it honours with the Order of Canada a medical man who has brought not healing, but the destruction of the defenseless and immeasurable grief. This award must not stand.

I kneel before the Father, from Whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that He may grant you in accord with the riches of His glory to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner self, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the holy ones what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

I'm a bit annoyed that there is no free online version of the Liturgy of the Hours.

I know that the text is copyrighted and its respectful owners deserve some compensation, but it's a prayer! It should belong to the Church and should be made available to everyone.

I know sites exist that have the modified text but I want the exact same text as what's in my physical copy of the Divine Office.

In the spirit of Saint Paul why not make this treasure available for everyone for free. Just my rant...

How often have we made the sign of the Cross and invoked the name of the triune God without thinking about what we were doing?  In its original meaning, each time we perform this action, our baptism is renewed.  We take on our lips the words through which we were made Christians, and we consciously accept into our personal life something that was bestowed on us in baptism without any active contribution or reflection on our part.  On that occasion, water was poured over us, and the following words were spoken: "I baptize you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."  The Church makes a man a Christian by pronouncing the  name of the triune God.  In this way, she expressed since the very beginning what she considers the most decisive element of the Christian existence, namely, faith in the triune God.

Let us begin at the point where God himself began.  He calls himself Father.  Human fatherhood can give us an inkling of what God is; but where fatherhood no longer exists, where genuine fatherhood is no longer experienced as a phenomenon that goes beyond the biological dimension to embrace a human and intellectual sphere as well, it becomes meaningless to speak of God the Father.  Where human fatherhood disappears, it is no longer possible to speak and think of God.  It is not God who is dead; what is dead (at least to a large extent) is the precondition in man that makes it possible for God to live in the world.  The crisis of fatherhood that we are experiencing today is a basic aspect of the crisis that threatens mankind as a whole.  Where fatherhood is perceived only as a biological accident on which no genuinely human claims may be based, or the father is seen as a tyrant whose yoke must be thrown off, something in the basic structure of human existence has been damaged.  If human existence is to be complete, we need a father, in the true meaning of fatherhood that our faith discloses, namely, a responsibility for one's child that does not dominate him but permits him to become his own self.
