Being a person of faith these days if very difficult. Every where you turn faith and morals are being attacked. These attacks are increasingly more and more acceptable by the larger society and religion is looked at as a joke.

Take this for example

Catholic League has this to say

This sort of behavior is only acceptable if it is aimed at religion, and not all religion, Christian religion in particular. No one would dare profane a sacred imagery of Islam. Christianity is a fair game.

Religion is constantly being misrepresented in secular media. I don't remember last time I've heard a statement about Catholicism that was correct on CNN or other news outlets.

It is such an up hill battle to even have an intelligent conversation with somebody about faith and reason. Faith is always put against reason and people of faith are seen as the most unreasonable of all.

I'm not sure what the best strategy is to counter attack. In the next few weeks I'll try to outline why I think my faith is based on reason and can be defended as such.

I have to say that lately I have been really bad in posting. This month was just pathetic. I promise to return to a more regular posting schedule very soon!

I have decided to have a blogging schedule. So this is how it's going to be from now on. You should expect a post on this blog at least 3 times a week. Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays are my blog days. So starting next Saturday (tommorow) there will be some regularity here!

I just finished listening to the debate series between Tim Staples of Catholic Answers and Steve Gregg, protestant radio host of The Narrow path.

This series of debates or conversations between these two men has been really exciting to listen to. Both men know their bibles inside out, so it was exciting to hear their interpretation of the common issues of contention between Catholics and Protestants. The issues covered included, Mary, The Eucharist, The Authority and others. Tim Staples did a great job defending the Catholic position on all these issues by just using the bible.

What these conversations show really well is how important is the issue of Authority in determining what is the true interpretation of the bible. Both men clearly know their bibles, both men disagree about what it says. This series has been a great insight into the mind of protestant and how they view Christianity. It also exposes some of the serious flaws in protestant teaching on sola scriptura.

Catholic Answers offers the debate on CD's for you to listen and own Get the CD's of the Debate here, you can also download the series from Steve Gregg's website. The talks took place between December 18 to December 22, 2006.
